Galatians 3

1. O witless Galatians, who [and what] has bewitched you such that the truth is no more believed by you? You before whose [very] eyes, Jesus Christ was set forth [and portrayed] among you as crucified for [and with] you.
2. This only [is what] I wish to be informed of by you: [was it] by works of the law you received the Spirit, or [was it] through the hearing of faith?
3. Are you so lacking in understanding ? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now made perfect by the flesh?
4. So many of those things which sadly you experienced, was it for nothing? Were they indeed really to no purpose?
5. He who certainly supplied to you the Spirit and wrought mighty miracles [with great power] among you; was it by works of the law or by the hearing of faith?
6. Just as Abraham had faith [and believed] and it was counted for him as righteousness.
7. Know without any doubt [and deduce therefore], that those who are of faith, they are the children of Abraham.
8. For the Scriptures foreseeing that God would justify the heathen [nations] through faith , preached in advance, the good news to Abraham, saying, ‘In you all nations shall be blessed.’
9. Even so also, those who believe are blessed [together] with faithful Abraham [who believed and had faith].
10. For as many as are of the works of the law, are under the curse: because it is written [in the Scriptures], ‘cursed is anyone who continues not in everything which is written in this book of the law to do them.’
11. And, that by the law, no one is justified before God is evident [and certain], because ‘the just shall live by faith .’
12. But the law is not by faith; rather by the observance of them, a man shall live by them.
13. Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law; becoming for us a curse; for it is written, ‘cursed is anyone that hangs upon a tree.
14. So that, upon the Gentiles [nations] the blessings of Abraham might come through Christ Jesus, so that the promise of the Spirit will be claimed through faith.
15. Brethren, I speak concerning [the ways of] men; whenever it is made by a man, a Will once confirmed, no one can set it aside or add to it.
16. But this utterance to Abraham was a promise also to ‘a seed of his’ , and did not speak then of his seeds, as to many; rather of one: ‘And to your seed’, the one which is the Christ.
17. And that is to say, a testament ratified previously by God himself concerning [the one who is the] Christ, four hundred and thirty years before the law came into existence, [such a testament] cannot be voided [by the law] so that it invalidates [and makes inoperative] the promise .
18. For if the inheritance is by the law, it is no longer by promise. But this [testament was made] to Abraham through a promise, God himself graciously [freely, of his own accord] bestowed it.
19. What therefore is the law? It was added because of transgressions ; until the one who is to come, the seed who was promised [comes into existence] ; it was instituted through messengers [angels and prophets] by the agency of a mediator .
20. But this mediator is the one who was not there ; but God is the one ever present.
21. Is the law therefore against the promises of God? It cannot be. For if the law had the power to give life , certainly righteousness would have been through the law .
22. Rather , the scripture includes everyone altogether under sin, so that the promise through faith in Jesus Christ can be given to those who believe.
23. But before this faith came, we were under the law, guarded [and preserved] until the manifestation of the faith that was foretold.
24. Therefore, the law became our nanny-tutor and guide to Christ, so that we might be justified by faith.
25. But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a nanny-tutor and guider.
26. For you are all the children of God through faith in Christ Jesus.
27. For as many as were baptized by immersion , have put on Christ.
28. There is neither Jew nor Gentile , there is neither slave nor freeborn; there is neither male nor female: because you are all one in Christ Jesus.
29. Now if you belong to Christ, there is no doubt therefore, that you are the seed of Abraham and heirs according to the promise.
